Sirius Canada shuffles lineup E-mail

Sirius broadcasts NCAA BaseketballSirius Canada this week announced that it will be replacing four channels in its satellite radio lineup.

The new stations, which will show up on listeners dial on March 14th, include FOX News Channel, Cosmo Radio Blue, Collar Comedy and Sirius Disorder.

To make room for the new channels, Sirius will be dropping  BBC Mundo (182); EWTN Radio Catholic Network (160); Sirius Advice (117); and one of the three play-by-play sports channels (126), thus maintaining 100 channels in the lineup. 

The following is a brief overview, provided by Sirius, of the new channels:

Blue Collar Comedy: (Channel 103) - Featuring the Blue Collar Comedy stars Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, Kathleen Madigan, Lisa Lampanelli and Ralphie May, based on their successful movies,tours, CDs, TV programs and books.

Cosmo Radio (Channel 111) - Timely talk shows, topics and music for young women that reflect the fun, fearless content that has marked Cosmopolitan magazine for 40 years.

FOX News Channel (Channel 131) - The popular U.S. news channel has returned to SIRIUS and features 24/7 news and information with a comprehensive hourly five-minute newscast along with breaking-news coverage.

Disorder (Channel 24) - Free-form commercial-free music comes to Canada with SIRIUS Disorder. Features music from every genre, including Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, the White Stripes, Beck and many others.
 In addition to announcing four new channels this week, the company also announced some new shows on existing stations.


NCAA Division I Basketball Championship

Sirius also announced this week that it will be broadcasting every game of the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship. This marks the second year in row for Sirius and, of course, a first for Sirius Canada.

The satellite radio provider will provide complete coverage of every match-up from the opening tip of the opening round game on March 14 through to the final buzzer of the championship game on April 3. All games will be offered in their entirety with no blackouts and at no extra charge to subscribers.

Games will air on channels 121, 123, 125 and 181. with regular host Steve Torre anchoring the coverage.

Candace Bushnell’s Sex, Success and Sensibility

Candace Bushnell, New York Times bestselling author and creator of the Sex and the City phenomenon, will host a live, weekly talk show called Sex, Success and Sensibility.

The four-hour show will debut this spring on channel 102, and will feature women discussing the issues, challenges, triumphs and aspirations they face with men and careers. Bushnell will invite special guests to appear on the show and take listener calls.
