Canada leads the world in Firefox Usage E-mail

Canada is Global leader in Firefox UsageThe use of Firefox, the free open source web browser developed by the Mozilla Corporation, is higher in Canada than any other country in the world according to recent research by onestat.com.

The browser, which has gained critical acclaim for its tabbed browsing and live bookmarks, has garnered a 16% share in this country vs. 12% worldwide.

The research results released this week found that the most popular web browser in Canada and the world remains Microsoft Internet Explorer which has a global usage share of 85%. Internet Explorer's share in this country is 77%.

Onestat.com reported this week that Internet Explorer's share of the market remains strong in May 2006 shrank at 85.17% down 0.65 percent since January 2006. The total global usage share of Mozilla is 11.79 which is 0.56 percent more than in January.

"It is interesting to see that global usage share of Mozilla is higher in the USA and Canada as in other countries in the world and that the global usage share of Apple's Safari is still growing" said Niels Brinkman, co-founder of OneStat.com.

The following table lists the five most popular browsers in the world along with their share in the U.S. and Canada.

The numbers were derived by analyzing Internet users arriving at sites using onestat.com services last week. The research was based on a sample of 2 million visitors divided into 20,000 visitors of 100 countries each day.
